ABOUT US

VIA WAX is an artist and curator led candle design studio in Cape Town, South Africa. Sisters, Nathalie and Làura, founded the studio in 2020 and named it after their mother Silvia – a resourceful, crafty, descendant of Italian seamstresses and olive farmers who embodies the notion of "no idle hands". Following this sensibility, the sisters have made candles in both traditional and abstract styles; often pushing the boundary of their materials and getting to know wax at a mastery level. Each design and candle, is treated as an original and made by hand in studio by Làura and finished at our family home. Family is key to this as is a brutalist fixation on process and innovative design. Since opening, Via Wax has grown remarkably fast and been featured in various interiors and style publications.
